(FMNF) fulfilled a 10 year goal to bring world renowned dementia care specialist, Teepa Snow to The Weidner Center in Green Bay, WI. Teepa Snow’s ๐ฃ๐ผ๐๐ถ๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ ๐๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ตยฎ ๐๐ผ ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฒ (๐ฃ๐๐) provides a wide variety of services to enhance awareness and increase dementia care skills, including PAC Speakers, Trainers, Teepa Talks, and Certifications which aligns with FMNF’s mission.

An hour before the conference start time, attendees had the opportunity to explore local dementia resource booths, network with one another, and enjoy coffee, light snacks, and music from The Weidner Orchestra Harpist, Tammy Kazmierczak.
The Teepa Snow Conference featured a full day of education with three insightful breakout sessions designed to enhance the understanding and skills of caregivers working with individuals living with dementia:
Why Do They Do That? Understanding Symptoms and Situations of Dementia: This session aimed to help care partners decipher the often unexpected behaviors exhibited by those with dementia. Participants learned about the underlying reasons for these actions, fostering a deeper empathy and better communication strategies.ย
Caregiving: Managing BehaviorโStart with Yourself!: Attendees explored the crucial role that their own behaviors, words, and reactions play in caregiving scenarios. The session emphasized self-awareness and encouraged caregivers to reflect on how their responses can influence interactions with those living with dementia.
Making Moments of Joy for Those Living with Dementia: This session focused on the importance of creating joyful, meaningful experiences for individuals with dementia. Caregivers were equipped with strategies to enrich daily activities, fostering a sense of purpose and happiness for those they care for.
Overall, the conference provided a wealth of knowledge and practical tools, empowering caregivers to enhance their approach and enrich the lives of individuals living with dementia. Attendees left with a renewed sense of purpose and a deeper understanding of the nuances of dementia care.
Once the conference concluded at 4PM, Teepa Snow met with Roubal Care & Rehab Center, Forest County Potawatomi Community, and Sokaogon Chippewa Community for a private two-hour dinner session.
During this exclusive event, the three winners of, “Teepa Snow After Hours” enjoyed a meal while engaging in a personalized 101 consultation with Teepa. This intimate setting allowed for direct questions and focused feedback, enabling participants to enhance their understanding of dementia care and develop strategies to strengthen their organizations.
