12th Forget Me Not Fall Fashion Show Recap

Green Bay, WI – The Forget Me Not Fall Fashion show returned to Rock Garden Events Center in Green Bay, WI on October 12th, 2023 for its 12th event after four years of being postponed due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. Hosted by Forget Me Not Fund, Inc., a local non profit 501 (c)(3) who provides funding to support local Dementia Coalitions, Memory Cafes, education for community awareness, support for caregivers, and education.

With a few years of anticipation, this event was record breaking! A total of nine event Sponsors; K.C. Stock Foundation (Diamond), Community First Credit Union (Gold), Oneida Nation (Gold), The Cottages Senior Living & Memory Care (Silver), Determined: Fighting Alzheimer’s (Silver), Sadoff Iron & Metal Company (Silver), PRN Home Health & Therapy (Silver), Green Bay Packers Give Back (Silver), M3 Insurance along with fifteen table Sponsors!

The evening started at 5pm with a social & cocktail hour featuring Terry of Terryoke’s Mountain Top Entertainment. During this time, guests were able to purchase 50/50 raffle tickets, place raffle tickets in over 25 donated raffle baskets and visit the Pop Up Shops, Wine Wall, Chocolate Wall & Twig’s Wall.

Cara Peterson, President of Forget Me Not Fund welcomed guests to their seats at 6pm. Cara introduced the board members, this year’s sponsors and welcomed back a familiar face, Heaven Daniels for the Dinner Blessing.

Shortly before dinner started, Treasurer Marla Micoley, announced that the Forget Me Not Fund is bringing Teepa Snow to Green Bay! Teepa is nationally recognized for her unique approach to training caregivers & families about caring for someone with dementia. The Teepa Snow Conference will be at The Weidner Center on July 30, 2024.

On behalf of Forget Me Not Fund, Secretary Mary Boyce, made a surprise announcement and invited Dr Luloff & Christine Vanden Hoogen of The Brain Center of Green Bay to the stage. The Brain Center of Green Bay serves as a community resource and local “hub” for brain disease and brain conditions. They strive to be the hub of education for those seeking out information on and about Neurodegenerative Diseases, brain health, and other chronic diseases. With the generosity of donors, the services and programs of the Brain Center are free of charge and accessible to all. Forget Me Not Fund was honored to present a $5,000 check to the Brain Center of Green Bay towards the amazing they do at the Brain Center.

It has been a tradition with the fashion show to recognize those that have made a significant difference in the lives of those faced with dementia and those caring for them. It is part of the fund’s mission to support and recognize the tremendous impact made by these individuals or organizations. Before the Fashion Show started, Laura Lutzke, Vice President presented the 2023 Appreciation Award to two inspirational women: Therese Barry-Tanner & Eileen Littig for their achievement of the production of the film DETERMINED, a groundbreaking study to try to prevent Alzheimer’s disease.

Mistress of Ceremonies, Jaime Lee (Sundrop Girl/Shawano News) announced the start of the show at 7pm. This year’s models wore clothing by: Hey Daisy, Lucky Penny, Old Fashioned Golf, Countryside Kids & Ollie Frocks at The Blend, Tatted Dad Co., A New Lease and Drier’s Pharmacy & Gift Shop!

Once the Fashion Show concluded, returning for a second year as auctioneer was Bill Jartz from WBAY. This year’s auction featured 7 incredible items/packages; Get Loud Lambeau Package (Value $1,500), I Love Tina Turner (Value $1,800), Time to Grill (Value $1,200), One of the Greats – Brett Farve Signed Helmet (Value – $800), That’s Amore (Value $1,300), Show us Some Love – 2023 Autographed Packer Helmet and Take Me Away – 3 night stay at the Four Seasons Puta Mita Mexico (Value $8,000). 

Throughout the show, raffle baskets, 50/50 and wine & chocolate wall winners were announced. The evening ended with the grand prize drawing from the Twig’s Wall – a 55” Samsung Crystal UHD CU7000 from TV-Grand Appliance and TV.

With over 200 attendees, Forget Me Not Fund is proud to announce that this year’s show raised close to $50,000. All of the proceeds stay local, going back into the communities we serve; Shawano, Oconto, Brown Counties, Menominee, Stockbridge Munsee and Oneida Tribal Communities.
