The Forget Me Not Fund was so excited to be included again in Shawano’s SunDrop Days and the event did not disappoint! This two-day event took place June 1-2, 2018 and was again a smashing success! SunDrop Dayz, Shawano’s unofficial start to summer, began in 2017 and has become an annual event that is not to be missed. This year’s attractions included fishing demos, Kid’s Activity Zone, live musical performances, a 5k run, great food, and of course, lots of SunDrop!
Friday night was a great night to enjoy a fresh Wisconsin fish fry or hand battered cheese curds right there at the festival grounds. Attendees at this free event were entertained by local favorites Vic Ferarri and Forget Me Not was there to join in on the fun by selling water, cans of SunDrop, and the (locally) famous SunDrop slushies! A HUGE thank you goes out to Twig’s Beverage who donated all the items sold at the Forget Me Not booth–making this our most profitable festival yet!
Also deserving a shoutout is all the wonderful people who volunteered their time during the weekend (and leading up to it) to help us out. Many of these people are part of the Dementia Network, an alliance of healthcare professionals, business people, and community members dedicated to helping create dementia-friendly communities in our area, while others were just willing to help out for a good cause. We really couldn’t do this without you and we’re so happy you were able to join us in our mission.
The money raised by Forget Me Not Fund during the 2018 SunDrop Dayz will go to support Alzheimer’s and dementia education, programs, and services within the local communities in Shawano and Oconto counties, as well as in the Menominee and Stockbridge-Munsee tribal areas. The total amount raised will be formally announced within the next few weeks.
